Abstract. During the transition to a post-industrial society with advanced digital technologies, significant progress has been made toward the implementation of telemedicine and the use of digital gadgets for health monitoring. In contemporary Russia, despite the fact that the cardiovascular disease mortality rate has declined in recent years, the problem remains relevant and requires new approaches to its solution. The article examines the potential for implementing mobile self-diagnosis tools using smartphones as an accessible tool for primary identification of cardiac risks, capable of reducing the time interval between the onset of symptoms and seeking professional medical care. Based on the analysis of sources and statistical data, the authors evaluate the possibilities of using portable ECG devices connected to a smartphone and identify the main difficulties in their application. The study concludes that regular self-diagnosis can significantly improve the detection of heart rhythm disturbances and asymptomatic ischemic changes, which has a positive impact on maintaining the health of the population, while extending life expectancy of the citizens, as well as their ability to work.
